WHY IT MATTERS
The Webby Awards – The Oscars of the Internet
Founded in 1996, the Webby Awards are widely recognized as one of the most prestigious honours on the internet. Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, past nominees and winners include global brands, independent creators, and cultural institutions from around the world.
This is not SJD World’s first time on this stage. Back in 2006, SJDWorld.com was nominated in the Best Student Website category and celebrated across the island. Stephan wrote at the time: “Being a nominee for the Webbys has been like they shone a flashlight on us.” Twenty years later, that same creative spirit, now channelled into a Bermudian poetry film seen in 11 countries, is back on the Webby stage.
Thoughts Become Things has been nominated in the Creators: Art & Culture category and recognized as aWebby Honoree in the Video & Film: Independent Short Film category. Two recognitions. One six-minute, 100% Bermudian poetry film. Written, directed, performed, and produced right here in Bermuda, by Bermudians, for the world. We are so proud to represent our island here and we need your vote to bring this home!
The Honoree recognition is decided by the judges and that honour is already ours. Now there is one thing left. The Webby People’s Voice Award in the Creators: Art & Culture category is decided entirely by public vote. That is where YOU come in. One vote. Thirty seconds. Free to cast.

BEHIND THE FILM • SUBTITLE SERIES
One Film. Five Languages. Five Stories
From the very beginning, Thoughts Become Things was built to travel, not just to film festivals, but into the hearts of people across cultures and languages. Each of the film’s five subtitle translations carries its own unique story of connection, collaboration, and community. Here’s a glimpse into each one.

NEW FESTIVAL SELECTION
Film heads back to Trinidad
Thoughts Become Things has been officially selected by the Film & Folklore Festival in Trinidad and Tobago for the second time! The film was first welcomed by the festival back in 2025 for their smaller October Fest event, and now the festival has invited us back for their bigger showcase, running April 1st through 7th, 2026. It is a true honour to be welcomed back again and to continue sharing Bermudian culture with a Caribbean audience that understands the deep roots of folklore, tradition, and ancestral storytelling.
