SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20: Ras Mykkal had a successful book launch yesterday.

Mykkal’s Click …I Got Yah! has been one of the most popular sellers at the Book Mart for the past two weeks.

Mykkal, who also shoots sports photographs for the Bermuda Sun, collaborated with graphic designer Stephan Johnstone on the book.

The pair were at Brown & Co to autograph copies of the book showcasing some of Mykkal’s favourite sports photographs.

“The sales have been good all week,” said Mykkal. “To be the best selling local book every day for the last two weeks is pretty good.

“I didn’t really know what to expect, but the feedback I have been getting from people as I’m signing autographs is a new experience for me and it’s rather nice.”

Johnstone added: “This is great. This is the biggest book project I’ve put together and working with Ras, who is an amazing photographer, is a really good learning experience.

“This makes me proud to be Bermudian.”

Mykkal laughed when asked how it feels to be celebrity with people asking for his autograph.

“I feel like a broke superstar. It’s a nice feeling to have done something that people really appreciate.”

Track and field legend and Bermuda Sports Hall of Fame athlete Brian Wellman stopped by to offer his congratulations to Mykkal and Johnstone yesterday as well.

Wellman has a photo in the book on page 99, showing off his bronze medal from the triple jump at the 1993 World Indoor Championships.

The book retails for $39.95 and is available at the Book Mart.
