On July 30th, at St. Paul’s Centennial Hall, Dr. David Chapman of King Alpha Productions invited us to present a special screening of our short film, Thoughts Become Things, as the opening for the event he organized, Masked Freedom. This event also marked the official launch of Dr. Chapman’s book, The Way of the Warrior, and featured an award ceremony honoring Gombey Elders and those who have shown long-standing dedication to the Bermuda Gombey tradition.
The highlight of the event was a lecture by Professor Raphael Chijioke Njoku, a leading Afro-Caribbean academic specializing in African and Masquerade traditions. His enlightening presentation underscored the African roots that continue to influence our cultural traditions today.
A big thanks to Dr. Chapman for the invitation and for being one of the sponsors of our film.
