We don’t always take on summer interns, however, this year we took on both Elsa and Khamil. We’ve been so impressed with their work and work ethic over the summer that it is only right to highlight them in our monthly newsletter.

Along with our new interns, we have an upcoming film project that we’re extremely excited about and currently seeking a sponsor to help us bring this project to fruition. For more information on all read on below.

Seeking Film Project Sponsor

After the successful release of Bermudian Poet we wanted to keep making magic with Marq. We decided to base a short film on another one of Stephan’s verses called “Thoughts Become Things”. This film will be about a young Gombey that meets his ancestors in a dream.

Currently, we’re location scouting, reaching out to all the Gombey troops and other community partners. To help make this dream come true, we’re seeking a sponsor to be part of this incredibly moving film about Bermudian culture told in way that has never been done before.

Sponsors will be included in all film marketing and promotion. If you or your company are interested in being part of this project please reach out to us at accounts@sjdworld.com for more information.

Our Summer Interns

Elsa Stevenson

Elsa is starting her third year at Ontario Collage of Art & Design university where she is currently working towards her Bachelor of Design with a major in Illustration.

She started working with us in June and has created some amazing illustrations for a range of projects including the ones of our building and studio above. She has also helped with website maintenance and some studio administration tasks.

Elsa not only submitted three pieces in the Graphic Design Showcase this year, she also played a major role in hanging the art in the show itself. As she prepares to head back to Toronto for school she is taking on some freelance work between classes. Keep an eye out for Elsa’s work in the near future.

Khamil Burchall

Khamil is starting her second year at Berkeley Institute and has been interning with us since early July. Khamil, who is also an entrepreneur, owns her own cupcake company called Elegant Cupcakes. During her time at SJD World, Khamil has primarily focused on administration and website maintenance tasks. Her high level of organisation and passion for mathematics has made her a valuable asset to the company. Keep an eye out for Khamil in the future – we know she will continue to do great things, and in the meantime, head over to Elegant Cupcakes to order yourself a treat!
